Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Learnership?
Learnerships are work-based training programmes that lead to a nationally recognised qualification. They are designed to equip learners with practical skills that are necessary for a specific career. Learnerships provide learners with the opportunity to work in an actual work environment and gain real-world experience while receiving theoretical training. Employers and industry organisations work together to design learnerships that meet the needs of specific industries and professions.
Learnerships are beneficial to both employers and learners. Employers can develop the skills of their employees according to their specific business needs. Learners, on the other hand, are able to acquire practical experience, theoretical knowledge, and a qualification that is recognised by employers in the relevant industry. Learnerships also provide learners with a significant advantage when they are looking for employment, as they have gained the necessary skills and experience needed for the job.
When do applications open for Learnerships?
Our application process is open all year. When Learnerships are signed off, learners are selected in the order that they applied.
What is the start date for Learnerships?
Learnerships can start at any time during the year. The start date is dependent on us getting signed confirmation from the client that is funding the programme. Only when this is received can we confirm a start date.
How long is a Learnership and what are the requirements to be selected?
A learnership is 12 months.
A Level 4 programme requires you to have Mathematics and English in Matric with at least 50% for each. Maths Literacy requires a pass mark of 60%.
A Level 5 programme requires the same Matric results plus a completed IT qualification.
For all programmes you need to be unemployed, not on another Learnership and living or have accommodation in Gauteng.
Will I receive a Stipend and how much will it be?
Yes, all learners on a Learnership are paid a monthly stipend. The amount received is determined by the client that is funding the Learnership. The stipend amount will be communicated to you before starting the programme.
How soon after I have applied can I expect a response? What are the next steps?
When you apply for one of our programmes you should receive acknowledgement of your application within 3 days. Your name will then be added to our pipeline list. The next step would be to complete an assessment – this assessment measures your aptitude for success on the programme. It is written online and can be accessed from a smartphone or computer and requires no prior learning to be able to complete.
You will receive an email prior to the assessment checking that you are still available to complete the assessment.
If I have applied for a Learnership and see an advert for a Learnership, must I reapply?
When you apply for one of our programmes you will receive an email confirming receipt of your application. If you have received this, you need not reapply. Your name will already be on our pipeline list for consideration.
